Bursa hosts literary talks at Osmangazi Book Days

The 2nd Osmangazi Book Days, organized by the Osmangazi Municipality in collaboration with the Publishers Cooperative (YAYKOOP), continued its fifth day at Osmangazi Square. A central feature of the event was a presentation by researcher and author Güney Özkılınç titled ‘Orhan Kemal’s Bursa’.

This session was part of the municipality's initiative to declare 2026 as the ‘Year of Orhan Kemal’ to honor the renowned Turkish author's connection to the city. Özkılınç explored Kemal's observations of Bursa, the city's social history, and how the local culture and people were reflected in his literary works.

During the event, Özkılınç emphasized the importance of integrating libraries and book cafes into daily life to improve society. Following the talk, Osmangazi Deputy Mayor Mutlu Esendemir presented Özkılınç with a special study titled ‘Female Tombstones in Pınarbaşı Cemetery’.
