Bursa marks 700th conquest anniversary with miniatures competition and cultural events

Yıldırım Municipality organized the “Maddi ve Manevi Yönleriyle Bursa’nın Fethi Miniature Competition” as part of the 2025‑2026 Culture and Arts Season, honoring the 700th anniversary of Bursa’s conquest. The award ceremony and exhibition were held at the Alev Alatlı City, Thought and Culture Center. Winners included first‑place artist Rie Kudo, second‑place Gülbin Atabek, third‑place Emine Suna Baran, with encouragement prizes to Hasan Atilla Şakarcan, Fatma Çalık, Ebru Karagöz and several exhibitors. Mayor Oktay Yılmaz, AK Party MP Mustafa Yavuz and members of the jury attended, highlighting Bursa’s historical and cultural significance.

Additional anniversary activities featured weekly Mehter concerts at the Saltanat Gate, performed every Friday until 28 August, drawing large public participation. The programme also included theatre shows, books, seminars and other cultural events, emphasizing the city’s role as a historic and artistic hub.
