Bursa pushes for official 700th‑anniversary celebration of 1302 Dinboz Victory

Local officials and volunteers in Bursa have filed a detailed request with the provincial governor to include the 1302 Dinboz (Dimbos) Victory in the city's official 700th‑anniversary commemoration of the conquest of Bursa. The application, prepared by Bursa guard and volunteer environmental inspector Ali Turan, cites historian Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık’s assessment of the battle’s importance in the early Ottoman state‑building process.

The proposal recommends archaeological surface surveys of the Dinboz, Marmaracık and Koyunhisar battlefields, installation of informational signage, and the protection of sites linked to Osman Gazi’s nephew Aydoğdu Bey. It also calls for coordinated events involving the metropolitan municipality, the districts of Yenişehir and Kestel, universities, public agencies and civil‑society groups, such as guided tours, seminars, conferences, and the production of educational brochures.

If approved, the program would add the Dinboz Victory to the broader schedule of activities marking the 700th anniversary of Bursa’s conquest, aiming to raise historic awareness among students and the wider public.
