Truck brake failure in Bursa kills driver Alpay Kurt

On 6 July around 09:00, a 03 VK 500 sac‑profile truck traveling north on the Bursa‑Ankara highway near Kestel lost its brakes and veered into oncoming traffic. The out‑of‑control truck struck another truck and three cars, dragging the last vehicle under it before stopping against a barrier.

The crash injured five people, including the truck drivers Ramazan Ö. and Murat S. and car drivers Alpay Kurt, Salih K. and passenger Hamide K. Alpay Kurt, a resident of Tonya in Trabzon, was taken to the Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Eğitim ve Araştırma Hospital where he fought for three to four days before dying. His body was transferred to his hometown in Trabzon for burial. The other injured were taken to Kestel State Hospital, Bursa Uludağ University Hospital and other local facilities. An investigation into the cause of the brake failure has been opened.
