Bursa truck crash kills driver on high‑speed rail bridge
On the evening of 30 June 2026, a water‑laden 60‑year‑old truck driver lost control on the Bursa Çevre Yolu in the Gürsu district’s Kazıklı Mahallesi. The vehicle broke through steel barriers and collided with the concrete pier of a high‑speed train bridge.
The driver, identified as Mehmet Şirin Çelik, was trapped in the cab and died at the scene despite the rapid response of fire, medical and gendarmerie teams. The prosecutor’s office opened an investigation and the body was sent to the forensic medicine institute for autopsy. Authorities are examining possible causes such as brake failure, driver health issues, or road conditions.
