Bursa's Nilüfer River sewage collector project slated for completion by 2028

Deputy mayor Şahin Biba led a municipal team to inspect the construction of a roughly 2 km sewage collector line running from Dereçavuş to Ovaakça in Bursa's Osmangazi district. The project, valued at 127.192 million Turkish lira, was signed with a hand‑over deadline of 21 May 2026 and a targeted full operation date of 19 May 2028.

The gravity‑driven system will use large‑diameter (1 000–1 400 mm) pipes to convey wastewater from six neighbourhoods—Dereçavuş, Çağlayan, Gündoğdu, Dürdane, Karabalçık and Ovaakça—directly to the Nilüfer treatment plant, eliminating the need for pumping stations. Officials expect the upgrade to prevent further pollution of the Nilüfer River and to improve operational efficiency while lowering long‑term maintenance costs.
