Burundi advances economic goals through political vision and investment growth
Burundi is advancing its long-term economic strategies through political mobilization and institutional investment initiatives. The CNDD-FDD party recently held a scientific conference in Bujumbura to accelerate the implementation of the ‘Vision 2040-2060’ plan, which aims to transform Burundi into an emerging and developed nation. The conference focused on identifying obstacles to socio-economic transformation and encouraging party officials to translate the vision into concrete actions such as resource valorization and community development.
Complementing these political efforts, the Burundi Development Agency (ADB) reported significant progress in formalizing the national economy during the 2025-2026 period. According to Director General Dr. Révérien Nizigiyimana, the agency registered 15,985 individuals and 10,393 companies. Additionally, 39 companies received investment code approvals, with 90% being Burundian-owned. These approved enterprises are projected to mobilize 872 billion Burundian francs and create 2,463 permanent jobs. The ADB’s upcoming priorities include digitalization, improving the business climate, and enhancing country marketing to attract further investment.
