Burundi seeks concrete projects following strategic partnership with China

Burundi is seeking to revitalize its cooperation with China by transitioning from a strategic partnership to the implementation of large-scale, concrete development projects. Foreign Minister Édouard Bizimana emphasized that the global strategic partnership between the two nations must now yield tangible results to support Burundi’s development ambitions.

Bizimana stated that the cooperation should be built on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests. He advocated for a long-term relationship that extends beyond mere economic interests, aligning with the Chinese diplomatic concept of a ‘community of destiny for humanity.’ The Minister noted that in a modern global context, no state can effectively address economic, social, or environmental challenges in isolation.
