Busan City initiates restructuring of West Busan industrial complexes

Busan Metropolitan City is implementing measures to strengthen the competitiveness of industrial complexes in the West Busan region. During a ‘Livelihood 100-Day Accompanying Meeting’ held on the 24th, Mayor Jeon Jae-soo met with approximately 20 business representatives from the Noksan National Industrial Complex and West Busan Smart Valley to discuss field-level challenges.

Key discussion topics included the establishment of a shared platform for testing and evaluating future vehicle electrification components, the implementation of Busan-style smart factories, resolving parking shortages, and expanding lifestyle convenience facilities for workers. Mayor Jeon also visited GB Light, a leading manufacturer of retroreflective film, to hear directly from employees.

To adapt to changing industrial environments, the city is undertaking a major structural reform by redesigning the industrial complex occupancy system for the first time in 46 years. This move aims to broaden the range of eligible business sectors. Additionally, the West Busan Smart Valley is being transformed into a ‘Culture-Leading Industrial Complex,’ integrating youth, culture, and industry through seven themed projects to turn production zones into multifunctional spaces where people can live and work.
