Busan City Unveils Second‑Phase Blueprint for Aging Planned‑City Redevelopment
Busan municipal authorities released the “2035 Busan Aging Planned‑City Redevelopment Basic Plan” covering four districts – Gaegum‑Dangam, Mandeok, Dadae and Mora – marking the second phase of the city’s long‑term urban renewal program. The plan, which integrates transport upgrades, new parks, green corridors and expanded social‑infrastructure services (SOC), will be open for public inspection from August 22 to August 6, with resident briefing sessions scheduled for August 24‑29.
Key details include average floor‑area ratios of about 330‑340 % and designated special renovation zones: eight zones in Gaegum‑Dangam, five in Mandeok, eleven in Dadae and seven in Mora. The proposals were shaped by expert panels in urban planning, architecture, transport and environment, and will be reviewed by the city council, relevant agencies and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport before final approval and official announcement planned for December 2023. Busan’s Housing and Construction Bureau chief Kim Hyo‑suk said the plan “reflects regional characteristics and future conditions to create a suitable future city.”
