Busan hosts architecture and housing forums to discuss sustainable urban development
Busan is hosting a series of architectural and urban planning events, including the ‘2026 Korea Architecture Culture Festival & Busan Architecture Planning Exhibition’ at BEXCO. The festival, themed ‘Multiplicity: A City of Inclusion and Recovery,’ explores sustainable urban directions amidst social changes and the climate crisis. The event features exhibitions on Busan’s unique topography, such as its coastal areas and sloped alleys, and includes the 2026 Busan Architecture Awards.
In conjunction with the 140th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations, the city is also holding the ‘3rd Busan Housing Forum.’ This forum focuses on ‘Sustainable Three-Dimensional Housing for the Maritime Capital Busan,’ bringing together experts from France and South Korea. Discussions will cover high-rise and high-density residential architecture, urban ecology, and strategies for adapting to shrinking cities. The forum aims to move beyond quantitative housing supply to improve the qualitative aspects of urban environments and citizen life.
