Busan hosts global forums on smart cities and maritime development

Busan is hosting a series of international events focused on urban development and maritime leadership, including the '2026 Busan Global City Week' and the 'Global Smart City Leadership Forum.' The Global City Week, marking the 150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port, includes the '2026 Busan Global City Forum' to discuss the future of maritime cities. A delegation from Guangzhou, China, is participating to explore smart city technologies and visit the Busan New Port.

In conjunction with the World Smart City Expo (WSCE), Seoul National University’s College of Engineering will host the 'Global Smart City Leadership Forum' on September 9 at BEXCO. Under the theme 'Towards a Sustainable Smart City Civilization,' the forum will address urban challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanization, and digital transformation.

Key discussions will focus on policy, technology, and finance for sustainable urban infrastructure. Dr. Bapon Fakhruddin from the Green Climate Fund is scheduled to deliver a keynote on financing smart and resilient cities. The forum aims to strengthen cooperation networks with ASEAN and other international partners to promote human-centered urban innovation.
