Busan Metropolitan City unveils 35.5 trillion KRW development roadmap
Busan Metropolitan City has announced a comprehensive roadmap for its 9th civil election administration, titled ‘Center of Future Transformation, Maritime Capital Busan’. The plan consists of 122 detailed projects with a total budget of 35.525 trillion KRW, of which 17.9965 trillion KRW is slated for investment during the current term.
The roadmap is organized into four primary urban objectives:
1. Maritime Capital Connecting the World: Focusing on becoming a national maritime control tower through the relocation of public maritime institutions, the timely opening of Gadeokdo New Airport, and the establishment of maritime AI data centers.
2. Innovative Economic City: Aiming for a transition to a high-tech industrial hub by creating physical AI and power semiconductor clusters, alongside the ‘Busan-style Youth New Deal’ to foster local employment.
3. Balanced Growth City: Promoting regional connectivity through the redevelopment of North Port, the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Line railway, and the implementation of the Transport Innovation (TRX) project to create a 30/60-minute living zone across the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region.
4. Citizen Happiness City: Strengthening social safety nets through integrated community care systems, completing a public medical belt, and developing one of Asia’s top three cruise homeports.
Mayor Jeon Jae-soo stated that the plan is a meticulous execution strategy designed to change the city's fundamental structure, emphasizing a commitment to proving these promises through tangible results.
