Busan Port Authority announces global innovation pact

To mark the 150th anniversary of its opening, the Busan Port Authority (BPA) hosted a Port CEO Roundtable to announce the ‘Busan Port Declaration 2026: Global Port Innovation Pact’. The agreement, signed with leaders from major international ports including Hamburg, Los Angeles, Rotterdam, Barcelona, Ningbo-Zhoushan, and others, focuses on innovation and solidarity to enhance global supply chain resilience and sustainability.

Key objectives of the pact include linking digital platforms between ports, utilizing artificial intelligence to predict supply chain risks, and accelerating the transition to eco-friendly fuels and energy-independent port operations. The participating entities aim to share technological advancements and experiences through the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to support the digital and green transitions of ports worldwide.

In a separate local initiative, BPA CEO Song Sang-geun visited various sites at Busan Port to distribute holiday gifts to approximately 4,800 port workers in observance of the Chuseok holiday. The visit aimed to encourage staff maintaining port operations during the holiday period and to emphasize the importance of worker safety and stable port management.
