Busan Port Authority reaches finals of IAPH Sustainable Awards

The Busan Port Authority (BPA) has advanced to the finals of the 2026 International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP) awards. The project, titled ‘Busan Port Mooring Operation Standardization’, is a finalist in the Health, Safety, and Security category.

The project involved conducting field surveys and gathering industry feedback to establish a standard safety manual for mooring operations. BPA also collaborated with relevant agencies to build dedicated training facilities, providing both theoretical and practical safety education to workers. This field-centered safety management system has since been integrated into government port safety measures and expanded to ports nationwide.

Out of approximately 70 global entries, 18 projects were selected as finalists following expert reviews. BPA has a history of recognition in this program, having previously won first place in the Community Contribution category (2019), the Infrastructure category (2023), and the Health, Safety, and Security category (2025).
