Neil Bush endorses Democrat James Talarico in Texas Senate race

Neil Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush, has announced he cast an early vote for Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico in Texas. Bush, a lifelong Republican, stated that his decision was driven by concerns regarding the character and conduct of the Republican nominee, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

In a social media post, Bush criticized Paxton for his efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election results to assist Donald Trump, calling such actions an “affront to our democratic institutions and the peaceful transfer of power.” He also noted that Paxton had previously been impeached by the Texas House, though later acquitted by the Texas Senate.

Additionally, Barbara Bush, daughter of George W. Bush, has reportedly supported Talarico’s campaign by donating $2,500 to the Lone Star Rising political action committee. The Texas Senate race is currently viewed as a highly competitive contest between Talarico and Paxton ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
