Bushehr nuclear plant targeted in third strike by US and Israel

The Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran has been targeted for the third time in ten days by United States and Israeli forces. According to Iranian news agency Fars, preliminary investigations indicate that the most recent projectile caused no casualties, technical damage, or material loss to the facility.

In addition to Bushehr, strikes were reported at the Jondab heavy water processing complex and the Ardakan uranium concentrate production plant in Yazd province. While no radiation leaks or deaths have been reported, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) expressed deep concern. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi warned of a "grave radiological incident if the reactor were to be damaged."

Amid the ongoing hostilities, the Russian state corporation Rosatom announced it has begun the process of returning specialists to the Bushehr site. Following a large-scale evacuation earlier this year due to security threats, the first five technicians and engineers have already arrived. Rosatom plans to increase the number of specialists on-site to 100 by autumn, provided there is no further escalation in the conflict between the United States and Iran.
