Busoh and Yokohama advance to Kanagawa high school baseball semifinals
In the autumn Kanagawa Prefecture high school baseball tournament, Busoh High School and Yokohama High School have both advanced to the semifinals.
Busoh High School secured a spot in the top four after a dominant 7-0 victory over Hiratsuka Gakuen. The win was driven by strategic play and a strong pitching performance from ace left-hander Shinsei Sakamoto, who held the opponent to just two hits. Coach Keishi Toyoda attributed the success to detailed video analysis and data-driven tactics implemented during the four-day preparation period. This marks Busoh's first appearance in the semifinals in 15 years.
Meanwhile, Yokohama High School continued its impressive winning streak, reaching 42 consecutive victories after defeating Toko Gakuen with an 8-0 victory. Despite challenges in team building due to key players returning from the U-18 Asia Championship in Taiwan, the team relied on a strong performance from sophomore pitcher Tetsusaburo Kobayashi, who recorded 13 strikeouts. Coach Hiroaki Murata noted the difficulty of integrating players back into the lineup on short notice but praised the team's discipline.
