Buzău hospital project stalled by Romanian government crisis

The ongoing political crisis in Bucharest is stalling major infrastructure projects in Buzău, most notably the establishment of a new Municipal Hospital. The project is currently frozen because the Buzău City Hall cannot legally take ownership of the existing CFR Hospital without a Government Decision, which the current Executive lacks the full authority to issue.

The proposed Municipal Hospital is intended to operate alongside the current County Emergency Hospital, featuring a capacity of up to 300 beds on a 7-hectare site. The development plan includes a university center for medical training, housing for medical staff, an elderly care home, commercial spaces, and green zones. In addition to the hospital, other large-scale municipal projects, such as the construction of a new orbital road to encircle the city, are also facing delays due to the lack of a fully empowered government.
