BYD Confirms New‑Generation Dolphin Mini for Brazil by 2028
Chinese automaker BYD has announced that a next‑generation Dolphin Mini electric hatchback will be introduced to the Brazilian market around 2028. The rollout was disclosed by senior vice‑president Alexandre Baldy and will see the new model sold alongside the existing Dolphin Mini, which will remain the entry‑level option.
The updated Dolphin Mini is larger, measuring 4.20 m in length with a 2.65 m wheelbase, and features a redesigned exterior, a more powerful 129 hp motor (up from 75 hp) and a higher top speed of 150 km/h. It will use BYD’s Blade lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery technology, though exact capacity and range have not yet been disclosed. BYD positions the new hatchback to directly compete with the Geely EX2 in Brazil’s compact electric segment, expanding its presence in the country.
