Overview

By August 2026, Chinese manufacturers significantly expanded their influence across Latin America. Competition in the Brazilian SUV segment has intensified with new high-performance entries. Volvo introduced the EX30 Twin Motor Performance, an all-wheel-drive model priced at R$ 309,950. Simultaneously, BYD launched the Sealion 7 in Brazil for R$ 339,990, which the company positions as its most powerful electric SUV in the country, delivering 531 cv. This activity aligns with rapid electrification in specific regions, such as Rio Grande do Norte, where light electrified vehicle sales rose by over 242% in the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year. This expansion extends to Argentina, where BYD has initiated the pre-sale of the Seal 5 DM-i, its first sedan in the country, which offers a combined range of up to 1,360 km.
