BYD delivers record electric buses to São Paulo and ships 7,200 vehicles to Itajaí port

Chinese automaker BYD supplied São Paulo with 265 electric buses—80‑passenger BW9 models and 22‑metre articulated BC22 units—raising the city’s BYD fleet to roughly 550 buses and the national total to about 700. The delivery is expected to replace up to 50 private cars per bus and cut diesel consumption by an estimated 20 million litres annually, reducing CO₂ emissions and improving air quality.

At the Port of Itajaí, a BYD Changsha vessel unloaded 7,216 vehicles in a 24‑hour operation, bringing the port’s first‑half‑2026 automotive throughput to 15,496 units. The effort, coordinated by JBS Terminais, underscores the growing logistical role of Itajaí in Brazil’s automotive sector and highlights BYD’s expanding presence in the Brazilian market.
