BYD discusses ultra-fast EV charging technology in Pakistan
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is in discussions with its local partner, Mega Motor Company (MMC), to introduce its Mega Flash Charging technology in Pakistan. This ultra-fast charging system is powered by BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and is designed to significantly reduce charging times for next-generation vehicles. While the technology is optimized for newer battery platforms, existing BYD models will remain compatible with the infrastructure, though charging speeds will vary.
The rollout of this technology depends on infrastructure readiness, stakeholder consultations, and future product planning.
In addition to charging developments, BYD is preparing to launch a manufacturing plant in Pakistan during the second half of 2026. This will be the company’s sixth manufacturing facility outside of China. The plant is expected to start with an annual production capacity of 25,000 vehicles, with potential scaling up to 50,000 units. The project is projected to create over 1,100 jobs and could help avoid an estimated 165,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2034.
