BYD expands Racco electric Kei car into international markets
BYD is expanding the market reach of its Racco, a compact electric vehicle specifically designed to meet the strict Kei car standards in Japan. Following its launch in the Japanese market, the model has secured over 2,000 orders within two months.
The Racco is characterized by its small dimensions, measuring 3.4 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width, making it suitable for narrow urban streets. It features an electric motor with 47 kW of power and offers two LFP battery options, providing a driving range of approximately 210 km or 320 km according to the WLTC cycle.
BYD has announced plans to introduce the Racco to markets that utilize right-hand drive, specifically targeting Sri Lanka and Macau. Other potential markets under consideration include Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, though the company is evaluating demand and technical requirements for these regions.
