BYD expands workforce in Camaçari to 8,500 employees
BYD has expanded its workforce in Camaçari, Bahia, reaching over 8,500 direct employees following the recent hiring of 410 new professionals. The company aims to reach a total of 10,000 employees by the end of 2026.
The new hires, primarily focused on production and logistics, are being allocated to the third shift of final assembly and the welding factory. This expansion supports the industrial integration of the complex, which is moving beyond simple assembly to include welding, painting, and stamping stages.
The Camaçari facility, which began operations in October 2025, is BYD’s largest plant outside of Asia. It has an initial production capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year, with the potential to reach 600,000 in its final phase. The total investment in the project is R$ 5.5 billion, with an expected generation of 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.
