Changan and BYD expand electric vehicle presence in South America

Changan has launched the pre-sale of the Eado Plus PHEV in Argentina. Distributed through Grupo Tagle and CityDrive, the plug-in hybrid sedan is priced at USD 29,990. The vehicle features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a 212 HP electric motor, offering up to 132 kilometers of autonomy in EV mode using an 18.4 kWh LFP battery.

In a separate regional development, BYD is expanding its electric vehicle footprint. In Argentina, the company plans to deploy its Flash Charging ultra-fast technology, which can charge a battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes. While Brazil will be the pioneer for BYD’s supercharger network with 800 units, the company aims to establish 300 fast chargers in strategic South American corridors by 2026.

Additionally, BYD’s Denza brand has revealed details for the Denza N8, a large electric SUV. According to Chinese industrial data, the model can achieve a range of up to 1,003 kilometers on a single charge, depending on the battery configuration, which ranges from 105 kWh to 130 kWh.
