BYD posts record global sales, launches humanoid robot and starts Brazil pilot production

Chinese electric‑vehicle maker BYD announced that July vehicle deliveries reached 419,211 units, a 21.8% increase over the previous year. International shipments surged, with overseas deliveries up 124.3% year‑on‑year, and European registrations in the first half of the year rose 145.5%.

Despite the sales growth, BYD reported a 19% decline in profit for fiscal year 2025, falling to 32.6 billion yuan, and its gross margin dropped to 17.7%. The company’s stock rose, trading around €10.35 and gaining 18.7% for the month.

In August, BYD unveiled its first humanoid robot, named Xiao Di, measuring 1.61 m and weighing 58.5 kg with 31 degrees of freedom, at its Zhengzhou experience centre. Vice‑president Stella Li said the robot will be placed in showrooms to greet customers and demonstrate vehicle features. At the same time, BYD began pilot vehicle production at its Camaçari plant in Brazil, moving toward full local manufacturing by the end of 2026. The company also declared a dividend of 0.358 RMB per share payable on 9 August 2026.
