BYD climbs to fourth place in Brazil car sales as MG Motor slashes electric hatch price
Chinese automaker BYD achieved its best-ever result in Brazil, ranking fourth among car brands in June 2026. The company recorded 99,029 registrations from January to June, a 107% increase over the same period last year, and sold 21,254 units in June alone, overtaking Hyundai. BYD also reached a cumulative total of 300,000 vehicles sold in just over four years, with the Dolphin Mini and Dolphin models securing spots in the top‑10 best‑selling cars.
Sino‑British rival MG Motor launched a limited‑time discount on its MG4 Comfort electric hatch, cutting the price by R$35,000 to R$149,600. The offer is restricted to direct sales for taxi drivers and ride‑hailing app operators. The MG4 Comfort is equipped with a 190 hp motor, a 57.4 kWh battery delivering up to 364 km of range, LED lighting, 18‑inch wheels, a 10.25‑inch digital panel, six airbags, and advanced driver assistance features.
