BYD sees 266% sales growth in Hungary

BYD has reported significant growth in the Hungarian automotive market during the first nine months of 2026. The Chinese manufacturer achieved a 266.2 percent increase in sales compared to the same period last year, totaling 3,482 units.

As a global leader in New Energy Vehicles (NEV), BYD maintains the top position in Hungary for both the combined battery electric and plug-in hybrid (BEV + PHEV) category, as well as the pure electric (BEV) market with 1,839 units sold. Within the broader Hungarian passenger car market, BYD holds the 11th position with a market share of 3.21 percent. When adjusting for transit and export removals, the brand holds 9th place.

The company attributes this growth to its diverse model range and the increasing adoption of its Super DM plug-in hybrid technology, which addresses consumer concerns regarding long-distance travel. To support this expansion, BYD is rapidly growing its commercial network, currently operating 20 sales points and 13 service centers across the country, with plans to open four additional locations in Esztergom, Érd, Jászberény, and Szolnok by the end of the year.
