BYD unveils new electric SUV and announces Indonesia factory opening
BYD is expanding its global footprint through both new product technology and manufacturing infrastructure. At the Chengdu Auto Show, the company unveiled the third-generation Tang, a mid-to-large sized electric SUV. The new model features second-generation Blade Battery technology with capacities of 88.6 kWh or 105.7 kWh, offering a claimed range of up to 850 kilometers under CLTC testing standards. The vehicle is expected to enter the market in the fourth quarter of 2026.
In Indonesia, BYD is set to inaugurate a new electric vehicle assembly plant in Subang, West Java, on September 3, 2026. Located within the Subang Smartpolitan Industrial Park, the facility represents an investment of Rp 11.7 trillion and spans 126 hectares. The plant is projected to have an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, aimed at strengthening the local automotive manufacturing ecosystem and supporting the development of clean energy vehicle infrastructure in the country.
