Poland: Police report series of traffic incidents and smuggling

Polish authorities have reported several significant law enforcement incidents involving smuggling and dangerous driving. In the Podlaskie region, Border Guard officers intercepted a 29-year-old man attempting to flee in a Skoda containing over 92,700 PLN worth of untaxed cigarettes. In a separate operation near Lipsk, officers recovered a Mercedes valued at approximately 300,000 PLN that had been reported stolen in Germany.

Multiple incidents of impaired driving were also recorded. In Bytom, a 36-year-old man with 3.5 per mille of alcohol in his system attempted to flee police and offered a bribe. In the Białystok area, a 47-year-old driver was caught with nearly 4 per mille of alcohol, while other drivers were intercepted with high blood alcohol levels after crashing into ditches or driving erratically.

In Poznań, a 31-year-old Ukrainian national faced legal action after a tanker truck became stuck at a railway crossing. The driver waited for several seconds before driving through the closing barriers, narrowly avoiding a collision with an oncoming PKP Intercity train.
