Cà Mau police investigate fatal stabbing of mother and two children

Police in Cà Mau province have initiated a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing involving a mother and her two children in Năm Căn commune. The suspect, 40-year-old Trần Chí Công, has been arrested and detained.

Authorities believe the attack was motivated by romantic jealousy. On October 5, Công reportedly went to the home of N. T. L. H., a 39-year-old teacher with whom he had a relationship since 2022, to resolve a personal conflict. After failing to reach an agreement, he used a household knife to attack H. and her two children, aged 11 and 6.

The 6-year-old child succumbed to her injuries, while the mother and 11-year-old child were hospitalized for treatment. Preliminary investigations indicate that Công suspected H. of having a relationship with another man, which led to the dispute after she restricted his access to her home.
