Fatal stabbing attack in Cà Mau

Overview

On October 5, a violent knife attack occurred in Năm Căn, Cà Mau, targeting a primary school teacher, N. T. L. H., and her two daughters, aged 6 and 11. The 6-year-old victim died from her injuries, while the mother and 11-year-old daughter were hospitalized.

Police arrested the suspect, 40-year-old Trần Chí Công, following a pursuit by local citizens. Investigations indicate the motive was romantic jealousy, stemming from a dispute after the victim restricted the suspect’s access to her home. Authorities have detained Công as they continue their murder investigation.

By October 11, police in Cà Mau province officially charged Công with murder and the illegal use of military weapons. Investigators revealed that Công and H. had been in a relationship since 2022, living together as a family. The conflict reportedly arose from Công’s suspicion that H. was having an affair with another man. While the mother and 11-year-old daughter were previously listed in critical condition, they are now reported to be in stable condition. Preliminary drug tests for the suspect returned negative results.
