Ca Mau police charge man for fatal stabbing of teacher and children

Police in Ca Mau province have charged 40-year-old Tran Chi Cong with murder and the illegal use of military weapons following a violent attack on a teacher and her two children in Nam Can commune.

The incident occurred on October 5, after Cong arrived at the home of N. T. L. H, a 39-year-old primary school teacher, to resolve a romantic dispute. Following a disagreement, Cong used a knife to attack H and her daughters, aged 11 and 6. The 6-year-old victim died from her injuries, while the mother and the 11-year-old daughter were hospitalized and are currently in stable condition.

Investigators determined the motive was jealousy. Cong and H had been in a relationship since 2022, living together as a family. The conflict arose after Cong suspected H of having an affair with another man. Local authorities apprehended Cong at the scene with the help of residents. Preliminary drug tests for the suspect returned negative results.
