Cửa Đông General Hospital to cover costs for teacher who lost leg saving student

Cửa Đông General Hospital in Nghệ An has announced it will cover all medical and accommodation costs for teacher Hoàng Thị Hiền and her family during her recovery. Ms. Hiền suffered severe injuries, including the loss of a leg, after rushing to protect a 2-year-old student from an oncoming truck in August 2026.

After receiving initial treatment at Việt Đức Hospital in Hanoi, Ms. Hiền has been transferred to Cửa Đông General Hospital for continued care and functional rehabilitation. Doctors plan to assess her recovery to determine the appropriate prosthetic limb once her health stabilizes.

Ms. Hiền, a single mother of two young children, faces significant financial hardship due to the accident. In recognition of her bravery, the Nghệ An Provincial Women's Union presented her with a certificate of merit on behalf of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.
