Cabo Delgado: Two terrorists killed in Mozambique-Rwanda joint operation

At least two suspected terrorists were killed during clashes between Mozambican Defense and Security Forces and Rwandan military personnel in the Macomia region of Cabo Delgado. The confrontation took place in the forests of the Quiterajo administrative post, approximately 70 kilometers from Macomia village.

In addition to the two deceased insurgents, several others were wounded during the operation. One member of the Mozambican security forces also sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The joint operation aimed to contain rising insecurity in the area, successfully driving insurgents away from the immediate zone.

The security situation remains tense for local populations. Residents in areas such as Nkóe, Nguida, Chicomo, and Meluco have reported panic due to the constant presence of rebel groups. Recent insurgent activity includes the looting of cornfields and threats to agricultural production. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for various attacks in the Macomia district, including violent confrontations with security forces.
