Cade Cavalli led the Washington Nationals to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, narrowly missing a no-hitter. Cavalli carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning before Michael Busch broke it up with a single to left field.
Cavalli finished the game with eight innings pitched, 10 strikeouts, and a career-high 103 pitches, improving his season record to 10-5. Clayton Beeter completed the win with a perfect ninth inning.
