Cadence achieves tool certification for TSMC A14 process technology

Cadence has expanded its partnership with TSMC by achieving tool certification for the next-generation A14 process technology. This collaboration aims to support designers working on advanced AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and mobile SoCs.

The certification includes digital full flow, signoff flow, and custom/analog design flows for TSMC’s A16 and A14 processes. Specifically, Virtuoso Studio solutions are expected to reduce design iterations by up to 2.5X and improve first-pass success. The partnership also enables design flows across TSMC’s N3, N2, A16, and A14 technologies, including support for 3D-IC and wafer-scale systems using TSMC 3DFabric.

In related industry developments, M31 and Ambiq are collaborating on TSMC N12e foundation IP to address power and area targets for demanding SoCs. Additionally, broader tech trends show significant increases in AI and data center spending by major firms like Amazon.
