Cadillac replaces team principal Graeme Lowdon with Marcin Budkowski

Cadillac has undergone a major leadership change in its Formula 1 project, replacing Graeme Lowdon with Marcin Budkowski as team principal. The decision, announced during the summer break by CEO Dan Towriss, follows a difficult start to the 2026 season characterized by reliability issues and a lack of points.

Driver Valtteri Bottas expressed that while the sudden dismissal of Lowdon was surprising, he believes “something needed to change” to address ongoing technical struggles. Bottas noted that the move toward a technical leader like Budkowski, who has experience with teams such as Ferrari and Alpine, is a step the team supports.

Driver Sergio Pérez also addressed the transition, dismissing rumors of a departure to other teams. Pérez stated his intention to remain with Cadillac “long-term,” viewing the American project as a multi-year commitment despite the current performance challenges. Budkowski has confirmed that the team will continue to use Ferrari power units for the time being while evaluating future technical directions.
