Rio Grande do Norte election campaigns intensify in Natal
Political activity is intensifying in Rio Grande do Norte as candidates launch their campaigns for the state government. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held a public event in Natal to support Cadu Xavier, the Workers' Party (PT) candidate. During the event, Lula emphasized his support for Xavier, highlighting his experience in state fiscal management, and praised current Governor Fátima Bezerra.
Xavier, a career tax auditor, framed his candidacy as a continuation of Bezerra’s administration. Meanwhile, candidate Allyson Bezerra has proposed reducing bureaucracy through the Institute of Sustainable Development and Environment (Idema) to accelerate licensing for wind, solar, and oil projects without increasing taxes.
In terms of electoral oversight, the Pardal application has already recorded 37 reports of potential irregularities in the state. Most complaints involve the use of sound cars and unauthorized propaganda, particularly regarding candidates for state deputies. The majority of these reports originated in Natal and Mossoró.
