Caen vehicle attack leaves one dead and multiple injured FAST-MOVING

A 26-year-old man of Russian origin has been arrested following a vehicle attack in Caen, northern France. The incident occurred around 10:15 PM on Wednesday near a public transport stop in front of the Caen railway station.

Authorities report that the driver deliberately drove into a group of pedestrians. The attack resulted in at least one death and left approximately ten to twelve people injured. Several victims are reported to be in critical condition. Many of the injured are foreign nationals, including citizens from Afghanistan, Egypt, and Bangladesh.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may have been preceded by an altercation in a nearby bar. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the crash but was later apprehended in Ouistreham, roughly 15 to 20 kilometers from Caen. While the driver was known to police for traffic violations, he was not known to intelligence services. A homicide investigation has been launched to determine the exact motives.
