CAF increases annual funding for member associations to $700,000
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in annual financial support for its 54 member associations. Under the leadership of President Patrice Motsepe, the annual funding per association will rise from $200,000 to $700,000.
This initiative aims to strengthen football administration and development across the continent. The additional resources are intended to help national federations manage operations, improve institutional capacity, and invest in grassroots programs, domestic competitions, national team programs, and youth development.
For specific members like the São Tomé and Príncipe Football Federation (FSF), this increase could provide vital funds for training young players, supporting women's football, and enhancing the training of coaches and referees. CAF has expressed a long-term goal to eventually increase these annual subsidies to $1 million per member, contingent upon the growth of the organization's commercial revenue and partnerships.
