CAF increases annual grants to 54 member associations to $700,000
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in financial support for its 54 member associations. Under the leadership of President Patrice Motsepe, annual subventions for each member association will rise by 33%, increasing from $525,000 to as much as $700,000. This represents a 250% increase compared to the $200,000 provided in 2021.
In addition to national associations, CAF's zonal unions will see their annual funding increase by 20%, rising from $750,000 to $900,000. The African Clubs Association (ACA) will also receive an increased allocation, moving from $400,000 to $500,000 annually.
The funding is intended to strengthen football development across the continent, specifically targeting youth and women’s football, coaching and referee development, administrative capacity, and infrastructure. The goal of these reforms is to help member associations, such as the Ghana Football Association and the Nigerian Football Federation, become more world-class and financially self-sustaining.
