CAF intensifies inspections for AFCON 2027 in East Africa

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has increased inspections in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) enter a critical phase. Senior CAF officials recently conducted an eight-day inspection tour involving specialists in logistics, security, transport, and media to assess the readiness of the three host nations.

In Kenya, construction of the 60,000-capacity Talanta Stadium in Nairobi is approximately 90 percent complete, with recent work focusing on the playing surface. Tanzania is also progressing with renovations at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, which include upgrades to changing rooms and new seating. CAF continues to work with the host nations to prioritize key infrastructure areas for the 24-team tournament scheduled for June and July 2027.
