CAF Women’s Champions League begins with historic results in Egypt

The 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League has commenced in Egypt with several notable results across the group stages.

In Group B, Ugandan debutants Kawempe Muslim Ladies secured a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over defending champions AS FAR of Morocco. Agnes Nabukenya scored twice, including a stoppage-time winner, while captain Shakirah Nyinagahirwa added a goal. AS FAR had initially taken the lead through Fatima Tagnout, but a penalty from Nadia El Madani temporarily leveled the score before Kawempe secured the win.

Also in Group B, Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Mali’s USFAS Bamako 5-1. Despite conceding an early goal to Oumou Kone, the Ghanaian side responded with five unanswered goals, including strikes from Angelina Yeboah, Patricia Agyei, Beline Nyarko, and Amoh.

In Group A, Cameroon’s Lékié Football Filles played to a 0-0 draw against Morocco’s FUS Rabat. The result provides a solid start for the Cameroonian side in their first appearance in the competition. Lékié FF is scheduled to face Mamelodi Sundowns next, followed by FC Masar.
