Ugandan sports teams international competition preparations

Overview

Ugandan sports teams are participating in various continental competitions scheduled for late 2026.

In football, Kitara FC arrived in Cairo, Egypt, for their CAF Confederation Cup return-leg match against Al Ahly SC at Cairo International Stadium. Following a 2:1 defeat in the first leg, Kitara FC requires at least a 1:0 victory to force extra time or a two-goal margin to qualify.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, the reigning FUFA Women Super League champions, is making its historic debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt. The tournament, held in Cairo and Ismailia from November 1 to 15, sees the club placed in Group B alongside AS FAR Rabat of Morocco, USFAS Bamako of Mali, and Ampem Darkoa of Ghana. Coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi stated that the team is well prepared for the tournament. To facilitate their travel, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) provided 30 return air tickets to the club.

In the opening stages of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Kawempe Muslim Ladies secured a historic 3-2 comeback victory over defending champions AS FAR of Morocco. Agnes Nabukenya scored twice, including a stoppage-time winner, while Shakirah Nyinagahirwa added a goal. In the same group, Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies recorded a 5-1 win over Mali’s USFAS Bamako.

In golf, the Uganda ladies national team, coached by Flavia Namakula, is preparing for the 2026 All Africa Golf Challenge Trophy in Abuja, Nigeria. The team, consisting of Keisha Kagoro, Harsshitha Loganathan, and Judith Komugisha, is scheduled to compete at the IBB International Golf and Country Club from November 2 to 7.
