Cairo Metro announces student subscription details for 2026

The Egyptian Metro Management and Operation Company has announced the details for student metro subscriptions ahead of the 2026 academic year. These subscriptions offer significant savings, with discounts reaching over 90% compared to standard ticket prices.

Subscription fees are tiered based on the number of stages covered: 150 EGP for one stage, 200 EGP for two stages, 250 EGP for three or four stages, and 300 EGP for more than four stages. A one-time fee of 80 EGP applies for the issuance of a smart card, which remains valid for five years.

To apply, students must provide a subscription form (5 EGP) stamped with the official seal of their school or university, two recent photos with white backgrounds, and proof of identity (national ID or digital birth certificate for those under 16). The Ministry of Transport stipulates that subscriptions are strictly for the registered holder to avoid fines.
