Cairo Metro student and disability subscriptions
Overview
The Egyptian Metro Management and Operation Company and the Ministry of Transport have introduced discounted metro subscriptions for the 2026 academic year. These measures are designed to support students and people with disabilities by offering significant savings, with some discounts exceeding 90% compared to standard ticket prices.
Subscriptions are structured as quarterly passes allowing for 180 trips over a three-month period. Costs are tiered based on the number of stages covered: 150 EGP for one stage, 200 EGP for two stages, 250 EGP for three or four stages, and 300 EGP for more than four stages. A one-time 80 EGP fee applies for the issuance of a smart card, which remains valid for approximately five years.
To obtain a subscription, students must provide a school or university-stamped form, recent photos, and proof of identity. Subscription offices are available daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM at various stations, including Helwan, Maadi, Al-Shohadaa, Ataba, Opera, Cairo University, and Adly Mansour.
