Caixa Cultural hosts theatrical and musical performances in Brazil

Caixa Cultural is hosting two distinct cultural productions in Brazil. In Salvador, the venue will present “Meretrizes” by Coletivo Gompa on September 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13. The play combines theater and live music to explore the lives and social stigmas faced by sex workers, based on research conducted with women aged 18 to 70.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Teatro Nelson Rodrigues will host “Baile do Mestre Cupijó – Onde Nasce o Siriá” from September 3 to 6, 2026. The musical journey celebrates the work of Mestre Cupijó, a pioneer of Amazonian rhythms. The performance explores the origins of the Siriá dance, its Caribbean influences, and its Afro-Amazonian connections, honoring the legacy of a tradition recognized as intangible cultural heritage in Pará.
