Brazil updates Bolsa Família benefits and PIS/Pasep fund deadlines

Brazil is implementing significant updates to its social welfare programs. Caixa Econômica Federal is concluding the September Bolsa Família payments for 19.29 million families, with an average benefit of R$ 678.18. Starting in October, the minimum Bolsa Família benefit will increase from R$ 600 to R$ 691 following Decree No. 13.120 signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. This adjustment aims to restore purchasing power lost to inflation.

Additionally, a deadline is approaching for workers and public servants who worked between 1971 and 1988 to request reimbursements from the former PIS/Pasep fund. Requests made by September 30 will be paid on October 26, with average values ranging between R$ 2.8 thousand and R$ 2.9 thousand. These funds, which were transferred to the National Treasury, must be claimed by 2028 to avoid permanent incorporation into the Treasury.

In Niterói, the municipal government has confirmed that the Arariboia Social Currency Christmas payment will be distributed on December 14 to support over 54,000 families.
